The mobile gaming arena has become such a big world that it is way easy to get in lost. Although it is a big pool of indie games (With big brands’ games here and there.), lots of them are so boring or low on quality. But World Piece is not one of them…
The developer behind World Piece is Obokaid’em Games, which is located in Tokyo, Japan. Their ambitious project, World Piece is about a cyclist who –I guess- has no money to book a flight and has to travel the world with his bike. The bike that could actually fly time to time.
Gameplay is very simple: You press and hold the screen of your phone and your phone drops, Game Over. No, you won’t do that. You –gently- press and hold your thumb on the screen and your bike (with its host) gains momentum; the momentum that you need to use in order to go up a hill and fly for some time. Although it sounds easy, the timing is very important. On your first play time, you’ll move so slow that you will blame the game. Let me tell you a secret: You should blame yourself. The trick is you need to adjust the timing so that you gain speed while climbing up a hill and release your thumb at the right time. It sounded easy again, right? I tell you, it is not…
So why are we desperately trying to make this cyclist go? Obokaid’em Games wants us to hold the weather in a sunny state. If it starts to rain, know that you are in trouble because after the rain thunderstorm comes and your cyclist will be zapped with a lightning bolt! So in order to prevent the weather from getting cloudy we need to go fast as we can, collect time icons on the way and make our jumps and descends so perfect that we get a “Nice Slide!” praise. Actually it is far from a simple praise, it is actually a huge bonus to revert the weather to sunny skies.
You see, the game is all about score and how far you’ll go as you try to avoid the weather to become rainy. While you travel, you visit different countries like Egypt, India, France, U.S.A. and so on and with the KM’s you accumulate, you obtain different characters. For example your second character in inventory will be a Miami-style girl who is riding a squid. (Poor creature.)
World Piece is an engaging, easy to play game. You will like it if you are into score themed games. My only complaint about the game is the vast amount of Ads. I especially didn’t like the one placed at the bottom of the screen while you are playing. However this is not a big deal; you’ll enjoy the game.
